It would be very easy to believe that with the speed of advance in technology and the resultant release of ever more sophisticated new gadgets, the older generation would let it pass by. However, it seems that this is mere folly

How Do Older Generations Tackle New Gadgets?

They say that when you get to over 40 years-of-age that the ability to take onboard new knowledge diminishes. I wouldn’t argue that certain people have difficulty with tackling new and innovative technologies and when it comes to dealing with new gadgets , there are some that even refuse to try and switch on. I guess that the word for that type of person has to be technophobe. We all know somebody like this who refuses to change their old phone because they like it too much, when the real reason is that they are simply afraid of new technology, of new gadgets. What these people fail to realise is that although the latest gadgets have ever more features, they are designed to be able to use, so that their appeal can reach a wider audience, more than gadgets for men

At the other end of the scale are people who are over retirement age. Now most would have thought that this section of the public would shy away from any technology in fact away from any new gadgets at all. Yes, there is a higher proportion who avoid electronic gadgets like the plague, but there are also those who have invited the latest gadgets into their homes. Commonly they go for flat-screen TV’s and DVD players/recorders and yes, it might take them a little longer to get used to dealing with on-screen menus, etc., but they are willing and determined to make new gadgets work for them

In reality as younger generations age they will be more adept at adapting to the new technology and whilst they may not be first to get the latest or coolest new gadgets, they will still embrace the new gizmos and use them as part of their existence
