Many brag about how suddenly ‘Johnny’ has taken to the computer and is a ‘real whizz’ on it. Many express their surprise at how quickly modern children have taken to new gadgets When I was a young child the toys that I was given to play with were things like wooden bricks, spinning tops, Lego, Cowboys and Indians outfits and Mecanno. We used to have to use our imagination to have fun with these toys. Then as I grew a little older, suddenly I got my first Action Man, with moving arms, legs and head. I guess that you could say that this was my first gadget of sorts because it had moving parts. A friend of mine even had the one with the pull-cord to make him speak. We thought that they were something special, toys for kids, gadgets for men These days kids get gadgets right from the off. They seem to miss the wooden building block stage and go straight to the world of gadgets and many of these are electronic gadgets. Kids get a huge choice of battery-powered toys that appeal to their sense of fun right from the age of 3 years upwards. They even have gadgets such as very simple laptops and certainly plenty of electronic learning gadgets to get them into the type of world that they can expect to grow up into When you really think about it, there is no real surprise that kids take to gadgets from the adult world so quickly. Right from an early age they have been introduced to all manner of gadget toys and educational gadgets, so there should be no real surprise when they suddenly can master the home PC or any of the other everyday gadgets that they see as part of their natural environment |
