People from different generations have differing views as to what a gadget is. The term gadget has evolved over the years to mean various things and it now encompasses a huge range of items

Peoples perception of what gadgets actually are differs greatly from group to group. There are those in the older generation that would only deem a gadget as something that maybe is a DIY accessory or an aid for the kitchen, but many things fall into the category of gadgets including everyday handheld electronic items and toys especially electronic toys. On the back of the rise of the gadget many magazines such as T3 and Stuff have sprung up that keep the public up-to-date on the latest and greatest. On top of this we even have a dedicated TV show called the gadget show, which is about new gadgets , and more than just gadgets for men

Everyday gadgets could be things such as mobile phones, iPods, MP3’s, MP4’s, DVD’s, Digital Cameras, Video Cameras.... The list is almost endless. These are the latest gadgets that are much sought after by particularly the latest generation. When it comes down to useful gadgets. These can be anything from a DIY accessory to things like Video Memo Pads, Fridge Alarms, chargers for everyday accessories and such like. To add to all of these we have the gadgets that are just for fun. USB toys, Radio Controlled Toys, Puzzles, special clothing and many more. Of course, we cannot segregate the gadget categories so simply because there are many that are both useful, but fun, such as novelty alarm clocks that have the fun, but with function factor

To confuse things still further. Many gadget suppliers incorporate pure toys and novelty items into their range that maybe have a quirk or a twist with an adult appeal, but are not really by definition gadgets. What does it matter because whatever your viewpoint, these items all have something that will give much enjoyment to the owner
